20 Moments From "The Office" as Reactions to College Experiences

"The Office" is way too relatable when it comes to reactions to stressful situations, especially in college.

Two things I know for certain when it comes to college. One, Netflix is sometimes your only friend. And two, life gets rough. So I figured I would combine the two, using 20 "The Office" GIF's to showcase what goes through college student's heads with some different experiences that they typically have.

1. When the professor says "give your name, major, and one interesting fact about you"

Maybe the first time it's okay. Not the 100th time. Coming up with an interesting fact is one of the most stressful things for an uninteresting person such as myself.

2. Syllabus Week

The only sections students will ever actually look at are the attendance rules and the assignment schedule.

3. When week 4 suddenly hits you

You go from syllabus week to having multiple tests and projects due in the blink of an eye.

4. When someone mentions a quiz the professor forgot about

Everyone gives them the death glare. It's almost like they want everyone in the class to fail.

5. Trying to find parking on campus

Especially in the first week, when it takes 40-50 minutes to find a single space.

6. When the professor moves to the next slide before you got all of the notes copied down

What makes it even better is when the notes aren't online, so there's just a huge blank in your notebook and in your brain on the topic.

7. When the professor isn't making any sense

It's even worse when their slides and explanation both don't make sense. This is the point when students begin learning to teach themselves.

8. When you're overwhelmed only 3-4 weeks into the semester

Also realizing that it will only get harder as the weeks keep coming.

9. When you finish an assignment right before it's due and still get an A

This builds confidence in the abilities of procrastinators, until the next assignment hits them. After that, the ability to wing assignments boils down to pure luck.

10. Balancing class, work, homework, social life, relaxation, going to the gym, organizations,  etc.

Basically, as your trying to live your life and be successful, life repays you by falling apart all around you.

11. When you manage to check one thing off of your massive "To Do" list

In college, even the smallest accomplishments, like getting out of bed, are worth celebrating.

12. Trying to pay for books, rent, bills, food, gas, and tuition

Also while only being able to work part time and making near minimum wage.

13. When you are grouped with people for a project who don't do anything

There's nothing better than doing absolutely all of the work.

14. When you receive the "class is cancelled" email

As long as you're still at home. If you get this email whilst walking to the class, it could be a different reaction. A less happy one.

15. "Your final exam is cumulative"

The moment when you realize you actually do have to remember everything.

16. When you skip class but see your professor on campus later

The only time this is okay is if you're in a huge class where the professor doesn't bother knowing anybody.

17. When you're so busy that you don't have time to hang out with your friends

When the only people you really see are students in your class and those you work with. What even is a social life?

18. When you've spent 30 minutes writing a paper, only to realize you've written one sentence

You feel so productive until you see that you've only written your name and the title.

19. When you're so overwhelmed and any minor inconvenience occurs

Insert the 10th mental breakdown of the day.

20. Finals Week

I do this at least 20 times a day while studying for finals.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
