The Nintendo Switch was possibly the most innovative and anticipated console of this generation of console gaming. Fans have finally been able to get their hands on them and have been able to play games such as the highly anticipated Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild for a little over a week.
Nintendo fans that are still waiting to get their hands on a Nintendo Switch are of course asking what type of first impressions Nintendo’s new hybrid console is making.
For the most part, Nintendo Switch owners have been delivering positive feedback. Despite the fact that there is an extremely limited library of games that launched with the Switch, it is projected to be one of Nintendo’s most successful consoles ever, with analysts predicting that there will be close to 2 million Nintendo Switch units sold by the end of March. To make the situation even sweeter for Nintendo, The Main Nintendo Switch gaming title, The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild is proving to be a huge success. This is because the newest installment of the Zelda franchise is on the brink of being deemed the best game ever made, with ratings pouring in with a 98% success rate. The only other game that seems to stand a chance in terms of consumer ratings is the game's older sibling, The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, which was released in 1998.
While the Nintendo Switch is on the edge of being Nintendo’s best console to date, it should be noted that there are some issues circulating around the Nintendo Switch. One of the biggest complaints has to do with the dock that allows Switch owners display Switch gameplay onto their Television. Not only does it allow you to display your games onto your television but it is also being reported that the dock is scratching the screen on the actual Nintendo Switch device basically forcing Switch owners to purchase a screen protector to keep their new Nintendo Switch pristine. If that wasn’t bad enough there are also a large number of Nintendo Switch devices being shipped with dead pixels on the screen, which is possibly the biggest pet peeve of any gamer who owns a handheld console. Possibly the most common complaint that is circulating around The Nintendo Switch is the fact the wrist straps that secure the joy con controllers to your wrist while they are detached for table top or competitive play are poorly designed and can easily get stuck if not attached correctly. The problem is that the markings on the wrist straps that inform consumers the correct way to attach them to the joy con controllers are hard to see. There is a plus symbol on the right Joy con with the left joy con featuring a minus symbol and consumers are supposed to line these symbols with the matching symbol on the wrist strap. This means that consumers need to align the plus symbol on the wrist strap with the plus symbol on the right joy con Controller with the minus symbol on the other wrist strap being aligned with the minus symbol on the left joy Con controller. If you mix up the symbols, which many have, then the wrist strap gets stuck and is extremely difficult to remove. Despite these problems, however, Nintendo Switch sales continue to grow.
With the Nintendo Switch being in our hands for a little over a week now, it has told us a lot about the future of the company. Many were afraid that it would flop like Nintendo’s previous console, the Wii U. However, if sales stay on track with the predictions provided by analyst then this will not be the case. Now the gaming industry must sit back and wait to see how the Nintendo Switch will stack up against the competing PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when all is said and done.
