As a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, the 2011 NFL season was a tough one for me to watch. The Colts absolutely sucked. They went 2-14 that year and were easily the worst team in the league. They were playing without future hall of fame Peyton Manning because he was significantly injured. 2011 was a year of clarity for the Colts because they saw first hand that without Peyton Manning, they were screwed. They realized that they had to rebuild their team.
They also realized that Peyton Manning's career may have been over due to his injury. They believed that Peyton would never be the same. They had a very hard decision to make: Keep Peyton or draft Andrew Luck. They elected to draft Andrew Luck and cut Peyton Manning. As hurtful as it was to watch that happen, it's a decision that worked out for both parties. We got Andrew Luck, who despite being hurt the last three years, has shown amazing potential and has led our team to some of the most exciting wins in the last six years. Peyton got to go to Denver and break countless NFL records, go to two Super Bowls, win one of them, and win his fifth MVP award.
Now, I turn my focus to his little brother Eli, who has been the starting quarterback for the New York Giants since 2004. As a supporter of Peyton Manning and a primetime New York Jet hater, The New York Giants are the team that gets my full support every day of the year, except when they play the Colts. ESPECIALLY since they have denied Tom Brady two Super Bowls. I'm willing to say that the Giants' two Super Bowl wins in recent years were some of the most enjoyable nights of my life. And although they had an amazing defense both years, Eli Manning performed pretty well in those games and that's why he won Super Bowl MVP both times.
When the Giants season kicked off, I honestly had them winning Super Bowl. With their stout defense and high powered offense, I honestly thought they would find a way to win like they did in 2007 and 2011. Well, 2017 has been a disaster for the Giants. I don't think I need to get into the gruesome details about this season. Everyone knows that they've been crushed by injuries and they've had players flat out quit on them. When you're having a bad season you tend to play your backups to get ready for the future. You want to take a look at what you've got going forward.
The Giants' backup quarterbacks are Davis Webb and former Jet Geno Smith. This week, the Giants announced that Eli Manning wouldn't start for them. ELI MANNING HASN'T MISSED A GAME.
The Giants are benching a FUTURE HALL OF FAMER for GENO F*CKING SMITH!!!!!!!
GENO SMITH!
The former New York Jet DISASTER of a quarterback. How on Earth can anyone stand by this? Like I said, the Giants' 2017 season is a dumpster fire. It's time to figure out what the future holds. I CAN TELL YOU WITH ONE MILLION PERCENT CERTAINTY THAT GENO F*CKING SMITH IS NOT THE FUTURE!!!!
That is utterly insulting! Davis Webb should be finishing the season out if you're going to bench Eli Manning. Everybody, especially both fans of the Giants and the Jets, know what Geno Smith brings to the table. If you want to lose all of your games play Davis Webb and see what he's got. Geno Smith is a joke. I mean, even his own teammates hated him enough to knock him the f*ck out in the locker room. What a nightmare.
Eli's breakup with the Giants seems unavoidable at this point, and it looks a whole lot uglier than the Colts breakup with Peyton. For Giants fans, I wish you all good fortune, I know your organization will eventually figure it out. But God bless all of you for the rest of the season. Watching Geno Smith will likely make you depressed.
