Being a student at Butler is a major accomplishment. Many people strive to be a student at Butler. Students will do anything to increase their value after graduation. Now that the Butler College of Business now has a name, Andre B. Lacy School of Business, a business grad's value has just increased. The fact that Lacy is investing in Butler is huge, considering he is not even a graduate of Butler. This just shows that he has a lot of trust in Butler and the business school staff and faculty.

Being a business student at Butler, I was really excited for the announcement that the university received on Tuesday. This announcement will help business school grads get jobs in the future. If you think about it, most of the top business schools have some type of name endorsing them. Look at Kelly School of Business at Indiana University or Krannert School of Business at Purdue University or Mendoza School of Business at Notre Dame. These schools having those names add a major value to the grads. These names set students apart from everyone else when they go into job interviews. The fact that Butler has this endorsement from Andre Lacy is massive. This endorsement will give Butler students an edge in the Indianapolis job market as graduations come and go. Andre Lacy investing in the college of business just shows how much trust he has in Butler to introduce qualified professionals to the business world. He is not a graduate of Butler, so that speaks volumes to what he sees in the business school.

Not only does this announcement affect the school of business, it affects the entire campus. Andre Lacy is very well known among business people and his donation will help bring in other large donors to the university. Bringing in other donors is a good thing, because it will help improve the campus by allowing students to have access to different educational programs. These programs can help increase the value of all graduates from Butler. This announcement and endorsement will also add value to all graduates not just the business school graduates. This will build up Butler's reputation as a good liberal arts school. This donation will help bring Butler to being one of the top institutions in the nation, especially if it can bring in other donors with the kind of reputation that Lacy has or donors that are not Butler grads.

Most donors are Butler grads, but Lacy is not. He graduated from Denison University in Ohio. Him not being a Butler grad is a big deal. He has a lot of trust in Butler University to produce professionals. He currently resides in Indianapolis and has a very reputable company. He also serves on several boards. His $25 million donation is the biggest one Butler has ever received from a person or family. Thank you to Andre B. Lacy and his wife for this donation.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
