Paulina Jayne’s drive in the music has invoked inspiration to her family, friends, management team, and fans everywhere. How did this 20-year-old college student attract such a following? At the age of 5 years old, Paulina Jayne started taking piano lessons. Her grandmothers on both her mom and dad’s side of the family helped spark the interest followed by her beloved mom, Debra.

Receiving a strong support system from the start pushed Paulina down a musical pathway. Paulina wanted to be more social with her music, which meant getting an instrument that she could carry on her back. Without any surprise, Paulina picked up a guitar at the age of thirteen. Not only did Paulina learn to play guitar at an expedited rate, she earned her first management deal at only 14 years old.

With her first management team, she fully cultivated every skill in song writing, melody writing, singing, and performing. With all of Paulina’s practice, and time spent crafting her music, she was invited by multi-Grammy Award winning producer Toby Wright to audition for the NBC hit show The Voice.

This was not the only sign of success for Paulina early in her career. Paulina has performed at nationally recognized events including LiveNation’s Faster Horses music festival, WYCD’s Downtown Hoedown, NASH Countryfest, Southside Countryfest and has headlined several recognizable venues. She has opened for Sheryl Crow, Frankie Ballard, Kellie Pickler, Sam Hunt, Chase Rice, Jerrod Niemann and Blackberry Smoke to name a few.

If this isn’t enough to convince you that Paulina Jayne is country music’s next big star, her big heart will tell you more. When I asked her about why she chose music as her pathway in life she responded with, “I use music as a way to tell my story, give people inspiration, hope, courage, and to give recognition to not only those who love and support me, but to God. God has given me the ability to sing and play music, but he has given me something more valuable, family.”

Hearing Paulina share her why with me shed light into something that we sometimes. Her success is credited not only to her family, and friends, but to her faith in something greater. Paulina Jayne’s career in country music is unique, and refreshing. When she steps in front of a microphone, she sings her heart out moving, dancing, and interacting with the audience. Even my mom, who is very picky about music, was blown away by Paulina’s performance. This is only the beginning for Paulina Jayne. She is currently working on a new album that will release at the end of the summer. Be on the lookout for a concert near you to witness the life changing, awe inspiring performance of Paulina Jayne.

“To me, country music tells a story about, and deals with, the way people live their lives and what they do.” –Randy Travis

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
