January

Everything Will Change – Gavin DeGraw

“Wipe that dust off yourself. Even if you’ve been through hell, you’re back.”

January. The beginning of a new year. The time to make resolutions for the changes you’ve been meaning to make in the past. The time that everything will change, if you allow it to.

February

Loving Someone – The 1975

“You should be loving someone.”

February. The time of year where it seems that everyone is in love. The time of year where it seems that you should be loving someone.

March

Luck – American Authors

“I am my own man, I make my own luck.”

March. St. Patrick’s Day. The luck of the Irish. I mean even if you’re not Irish you can still be lucky. Just make your own luck.

April

Heartbeat – The Fray

“You got a fire and it’s burning in the rain. Thought that it went out, but it’s burning just the same.”

April showers bring May flowers. Never let your fire burn out – even in the month of endless rain.

May

Castle On The Hill – Ed Sheeran

“I’m on my way. Driving at 90 down those country lanes, singing to “Tiny Dancer.”

May. The closing of most semesters. The weather is finally starting to feel like summer. When windows-down-jam-sessions are a must.

June

Drops of Jupiter – Train

“Since the return from her stay on the moon, she listens like spring and she talks like June.”

June. The official end of school. The beginning of summer. The driest month, but one of the most fun. The month where everything is looking up and you are reminded to be the best version of yourself.

July

She’s American – The 1975

“If she likes it ‘cause we just don’t eat and we’re so intelligent – she’s American.”

July. The month of red, white, and blue. The month of American pride. The month where everything seems so American.

August

Waste A Moment – Kings Of Leon

“Take the time to waste a moment.”

August. The end of summer. The time where everything is going to be starting back up soon. The time where it is most important to spend your days having fun and wasting all of the moments you have left.

September

The Fall – Imagine Dragons

“Ready for the leaves. Ready for the colors to burn to gold and crumble away.”

September. The beginning of fall. The time of year where everything turns into a beautiful gold. The time of year where the weather becomes crisp.

October

Thriller – Michael Jackson

“Night creatures call and the dead start to walk in their masquerade.”

…Need I say more?

November

This Is Your Life – Switchfoot

“This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be? When the world was younger and you had everything to lose.”

November. The start of the Holiday season. The month of giving thanks. The month of reflection. What are you thankful for? Are you thankful? Are you happy?

December

Lego House – Ed Sheeran

“And it’s dark in a cold December, but I got you to keep me warm.”

December. The month where everything is dark and cold - but happy because it is the month of the Holiday season. Lego House. One of the warmest songs I have ever heard. Let’s just say that Lego House fulfills the desire that December brings – being wrapped up in feelings of warmth and happiness, just like a blanket.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
