I do. If you really knew me, you’d know that my default username has always been “minalovesmaine.” Up until recently, I changed it to my actual name, but that’s beside the point. You wouldn’t believe how many, “Hey, are you from Maine-like the state?” comments I’ve gotten on social media. Side note: I’ve never even been to Maine. No, I’m like, “It’s a band: The Maine, duh,” and they’ve pretty much rocked my world since 2007.
What started out as a subtle fan-girl obsession turned into a sophisticated soundtrack that I like to call my life. I was taught that girls do what they want, and boys do what they can. I learned that growing up won't bring us down because we'll all make it together somehow. That you should listen to your heart even on those days you wished you could just float away. Good love and strength will find you sooner than you thought it would.
If you got any of my references in that previous paragraph, kudos to you.

They have so many damn albums and I'd hate to bore you with my life saga, so let's
What impresses me the most is that each album has its own character. You know how sometimes bands will release an album and you'll only like a couple songs? That's literally never happened to me with The Maine. Each album is so different, but it still sounds like them. You know what I mean? Just go listen to them, damn it.
So why the fuck should you care? I don't care if you don't like their music, I don't care if you make fun of their haircuts, just acknowledge that they are some of the best human beings out there. I've learned this not just through the music, but through their actions.
What sets them apart from other bands is the fact that they don't care about the money. They signed to an independent label, 8123. They let their fans meet them for free (imagine that, meeting your idol for free!). They did a free tour for crying out loud. They are genuinely good people. I don't know much about the music industry, but hell, if you've been a band for ten years and still have people coming to your shows, you must be doing something right.
Remember that crappy white van you let all your fans draw on just for the hell of it? What about that grainy video you all made for that Christmas song, "Ho, Ho, Hopefully?" It's probably embarrassing that I memorized the "We like to party" chant, do you guys still even do that? Also, please tell me why Jared is so damn good at playing the guitar. Oh, wait, I'll just ask you in a few weeks when I come to your concert because that's right, I can just meet you in person. No big deal.
Thank you, John, Garrett, Kennedy, Jared and Pat for giving me some of the most meaningful lyrics over the past decade. Damn, I feel old. I hope that more bands follow your example because all I'm saying is you guys are awesome.
