The Love A Girl Has For Her Horse Is Unstoppable

I was not born into a family with tons of horses. When I was 7 my dad died of cancer, and I spent several years being raised by a single mom with two younger brothers. Several years later, my mom married my step dad; with that I gained three other siblings (2 brothers and a sister). I also gained a several horses. I had always wanted horses when I was younger and now it was actually happening.

We had two horses that I can remember; one named Don, a male or stud, and another Teardrop, a female or mare. Well, I instantly connected with Tear Drop; she was so gentle and it’s almost like she knew what I wanted and needed. She knew that I was nervous around her, and that I was unsure about what might happen to me. At that time, I had no knowledge of these beautiful creature and Tear Drop knew that. When I rode her, she never went any faster than I was comfortable with even when I thought I could go fast, she knew better. She knew I couldn’t handle it. I rode that horse every day, then one day I got home and she wasn’t there.

She was sold and it took months before I knew it. its okay I’ve had many horses since then. I’ve loved them all from the very depths of my heart. I have learned through experiences, researching, and the opportunity to work with many different professionals how to handle horses. I am now currently racing and training horses for fun and hopefully soon as a business. One day, I would like to own a ranch where people can bring their troubled horses to be trained or re-homed. This has been a dream of mine for a while.

A horse has a “6th sent”, they know what you’re thinking and feeling from a mile away. They know what you can handle and what you can’t. They know when you’re stressed or broken. They know when you’re happy. They know when you’re nervous. The only bad thing is they feed off of those emotions. My newest two horses I’ve already created a bond with; their names are Three and Blaze.

When I ride bare back I can feel their heart beat on my legs I know if their calm or stressed or upset. I can tell them what to do with a slight pressure from my legs and they trust me to know what is best for them. Horses are an outing they helps me with difficult times because they don’t care what my financial status is they care about my love I have for them. They are always there for me whenever I need somebody or something to talk to. They are my best friends and when I ride they are extensions of my own body two hearts one movement one mission. –love Mallory

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
