Self-reliance - being able to think for yourself, depend on yourself, and not bother with the opinions of others. Whether I always notice it or not, I am a self-reliant. This independence can lead me to place a great deal of pressure on myself, but it also has made me the person that I am today.
Independence builds resilience. As a self-reliant person, I have noticed that I am more easily able to overcome obstacles. It’s not a bad thing to accept support from others. However, if you are able to independently get through hard times, there is nothing you can’t take on. No obstacle is too large, no rejection is too decimating, and no failure is too heartbreaking when you can learn to take care of your own needs and responsibilities.
Being able to depend on myself as well as have my own thoughts makes me more self-aware and confident. I am able to be in a crowded room and stay true to my values and my ideas rather than copy those of my peers. That also means that when I’m alone, I’m comfortable, and I’m able to reflect on myself. By truly getting to know myself, I am able to see what I can achieve all on my own, thus building my confidence.
When you’re resilient, you learn to be consistently hard working. When you’re self-aware, you can determine your strengths and weaknesses, and learn to work with them. When you’re confident, you have the ability to be a leader as well as trust yourself in making decisions. Listening to yourself and trusting your intuition is the key to success. If we can’t rely on ourselves, who can we rely on?
