Spring break is one of the most anticipated weeks of the school year. People go on wild vacations, take trips to far off places, and adventure out into the world. A lot of planning goes into these festivities and a lot of risk can be involved too. So what is the hype all about?
Spring break is a nice time to get away from the stresses of school, work and daily life. But, spring break has a relatively negative connotation behind it. It is a week full of wild parties, drinking until the sun comes up, and nights you won't remember.
But believe it or not, spring breaks believed to have begun in Florida. "In 1986, MTV launched its first spring break special from Daytona Beach, Fla., a program which has continued from varying locales ever since," said Lauren Bohn of Times Magazine. Spring break sparked the making of many movies, while rapidly spreading across the United States.
So, now in the 21st century, spring break is still as crazy as it has ever been. But people are not choosing the "high life" options. Staycations are becoming far more popular. Meaning, staying home during the time off. People are choosing to work and to spend time with family. But most of all, to save the money and hassle of planning a trip. Certain weeks that most people have off for breaks get hectic and expensive. Often times, booking months in advance can save money or show someone what craziness they would be getting in to.
It is a week for relaxation and fun. You are right. A little party never hurt anyone.
