I'm the Grinch

Christmas has been and always will be my least favorite holiday. It costs way too much, takes too much time to plan, and it isn't even a Christian holiday anymore. Everything about the holiday bothers me, and I wish I could skip it. Many people tell me that I am a real-life Grinch, so if you're anything like me, you'll be able to relate to these 9 things.

1. You instantly turn off Christmas music when you hear it.

Something about the catchy, cheery songs just put me in a sour mood. I really don't understand how it's the happiest time of the year either because everyone is stressed and broke.

2. You avoid Christmas parties.

Why go? You're just going to be a Debbie downer and there are decorations everywhere.

3. You've never worn a Christmas sweater.

On top of the fact that they're ugly, why waste your money on something that you can only wear once a year?

4. You turn off Christmas movies as soon as they come on.

I can only deal with so many predictable endings. Not everyone ends up with the love of their life after a week of knowing them. They're just too unrealistic.

5. You never get around to decorating.

Why bother? I don't want to be reminded of the year.

6. You don't buy gifts until Christmas Eve.

Granted everything is pretty much gone, so you have to stick to gift cards, but you never get into the Christmas spirit; it makes it slip your mind.

7. Roll your eyes when you see Santa.

Oh, it's this guy again.

8. You shutter when walk through stores seeing all the decorations.

Take 'em down. There are too many, and they keep starting earlier and earlier. Stop it. Let each holiday have their time.

9. It annoys you that Christmas seems to be starting earlier and earlier each year.

I saw Christmas decorations going up and being put in stores before Halloween. People were even putting up Christmas trees before Thanksgiving. Uhhh... did we forget when Christmas actually is?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
