The Great America!

We took land to claim it as our own.

When building this country, we were pushing Native Americans out of their homeland and claiming it as our own. Imagine living in a two-story house with a basement, and an attic with your family and someone comes in and tells you they are moving in your basement because of their mom. Then later they have a huge fight with their mom and put you and your family in the middle of it. After it's over and the stuff in your house is broken and destroyed they decide to move upstairs to the main level and tell you to go to the second floor and denies you access to the kitchen so now it is difficult for you to make food. Then a little later they tell you they need more room so now they move you to the cramped attic but these people, who call themselves Americans, say they won't make you move anymore. Your family of four is now all attempting to live in the attic while they continue to take over this house.

At this time you're probably asking why don't I just move or go somewhere else? Well, there are no other empty houses in the area and on top of that this is your homeland that has been passed down from generation to generation and you don't want to give it up there is some much of your history here.

The Americans now come up to the attic saying you have to leave. You take a stand and refuse to leave, so the Americans shoot one of your children and threaten to continue killing your family until you leave. You leave because you do not want anyone else in your family to die. The Americans but you in the garage and tell you this is yours and we will not touch it. Even though they said this, they slowly start moving their things in your space.

This is how we took what is now the United States from the people who were here before us. Over the years many cases against the US have been created because of them trying to build on parts of the reservations set for these Native American tribes. We made deals and said we wouldn't take from them but we continued to do it and when they refused we killed them. Everyone here currently, unless you are of Native American descent, are descendants of immigrants.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
