Since dropping their sophomore album, "Young Beauties and Fools" in October, the Canadian band, The Glorious Sons have been creating a buzz in the music world. After being compared to Mumford & Sons, Kings of Leon, The Lumineers, and generating over 465,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, this alternative rock & roll band is one that you do not want to miss out on.

The band is led by brothers, Brett (vocals) and Jay Emmons (guitar) who came together to create a 10-track sophomore album that keeps the listener engaged from the first track to the last. The 10-tracks give an insight into the adventures of Brett himself as well as starting on the adventure of adulthood. The album was nominated for "Rock Album of the Year" at the 2018 JUNO Awards in Canada.

A standout track on the album is, "Everything Is Alright" which was named Apple Music's "Best of the Week" and found it's way in the "Top 10" on Apple Music's Alternative Radio. Other tracks that stood out to me were "Sawed Off Shotgun" and "Hide My Love." "Sawed Off Shotgun" has a super cool beat, is pumped up, and full of relatable lyrics, one being,

"Everybody's acting like they're all alright
I can barely get myself to sleep at night; I'm sick of it
Yeah, I'm sick of it."

"Hide My Love" is one of the slower tracks on the album, but it really appealed to me. Even though it is slower than the rest, there are still a few moments where Brett's vocals shine. It is also a powerful song lyrically,

"I smush some orchids in the street
Sand below our bare feet
Got on my knees and cleaned the grass up
Oh, this aching in my gut."

I just love that lyric and when it is tied in with the next line of the song it is amazing. Overall, The Glorious Sons have one killer sophomore album, and if you haven't listened to it yet, you better get started. You will thank yourself later!

If you think that The Glorious Sons would be a super cool band to see play live, well you aren't wrong, and you are in luck! The band's U.S. headline tour begins on Tuesday, March 13th in Minneapolis, Minnesota and will wrap up in Colorado Springs, Colorado on March 23rd. However, after their headline tour, the band will still be on the road playing shows. They will open for Franz Ferdinand at "Express Live!" in Columbus, Ohio on April 14th and then play a few shows with The Struts throughout April. After, they will hit a few festivals including "Firefly Music Festival" in Dover, Deleware, "Hang Out Music Festival" in Gulf Shores, Alabama, "Leeds Festival" in Leeds (U.K), and the popular "Reading" festival in Branham, England (U.K).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
