To The Girls Who Have Boyfriend's Going Off

“So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you." Nicholas Sparks

To the girls who have boyfriends or significant others going off, I bet you are getting the same speeches as the other girls around. That "he is going to find better." Or "he does not need you." Or my personal favorite, "You have a whole future in front of you." It makes you worried, and concerned, and then you second guess yourself, and the relationship. In reality, long distance relationships are the strongest relationship you can have with someone. It makes you trust more, open up more, and when you see the other person, it is butterflies all over. Now, no one likes waiting, which is acceptable. But think about the long run, and the effect afterwards. Once they come back, it is a huge stepping stone. So, now you are probably thinking, "Are there really any positives of a long distance relationship?" Of course there are.

1. You both have gained trust -- Trust is a huge thing in a relationship. It is said that you cannot have a stable relationship without trust. Crossing this stepping stone, is a big and important part of a relationship. It may be hard at first, because you are going to be second guessing left and right, but if you put yourself into your partners shoes, they might think the same. You have been with your partner through everything, and now walking away from their lifestyle for a long period, it might make you uneasy.

2. You learn to be independent, and stay in a relationship-- Being in college, and starting a new chapter of your life, you need to learn how to be independent. You need to learn how to take care of yourself, before caring about any significant other. Plus, you will never be upset about taking leisure time.

3. The best thing you can use- Skype-- There is no doubt that you two will be very, very busy. But on the chance you two have time, Skype, FaceTime, or even Facebook will be a golden god. Even hearing their voice, will give you reassurance.

4. Seeing each other-- This will be the BEST feeling. Whether you get out of a car door, or their getting off an airplane. It will be amazing, and you two will not be able to stray away from each other. And just think, we made it, when it is the last visit and the traveling is done.

There are always negatives of this situation, but when you are happy and in a relationship with the ONE, you will not look at the negatives, only the positives. If there is a girl reading this and relates, I wish you good luck, and I feel your pain. It will be hard, but worth it. Trust me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
