You’ll never admit it but sometimes putting yourself lasts takes a toll on you.
You’re the person who goes to bed crying at night, then wakes up in the morning asking everyone how they are.
Whenever someone asks how you are you say that you are fine. Focusing on their problems instead of your own.
You will go miles for others who wouldn’t move an inch for you.
Staying up past 1 a.m. to help a friend write a paper. Staying up until 3 a.m. to help another friend who is crying because of a guy. Giving others advice all through the night. Even though you have to get up early the next morning.
You push your tears aside when you see others crying, because you feel the need to be strong for them.
All of this starts to take a toll on you, and some question why you do it. Hell, some days you even question yourself.
You do it because you know what it feels like to be alone. You know what it feels like to not be able to sleep because you’re crying. You know what it feels like to have no one to talk to.
So you feel the need to be there for others. To pick someone up when you see them down.
Nothing feels better than knowing that you are the reason someone stopped crying, and is able to laugh again.
Never asking for anything in return.
Giving people the advice that you yourself need to hear.
One day you’ll realize you need to put yourself first, and sometimes you’ll need to be selfish… not everyday, but some days. But until then, you’ll keep thinking of everyone before yourself.
Here’s to everyone that puts themselves last.
