The first week of summer vacation is strange. You still feel the stress like you still have homework to do and you aren't sure if it's safe yet to close out all the tabs on your laptop. But it's officially time to relax and enjoy the hot summer sun! Though the first week of summer is a week of adjustments all around, it's important for you to understand the three stages of being done with classes for the summer, and it may even help ease you into your well-deserved vacation without panicking.

1. Exhaustion

The first week of summer after a long and dreadful semester is definitely a code word for naps... and lots of them. And we all know too well that that first nap after your last final is the most satisfying thing in the world. Summer is meant to catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. And especially after handing in that last final, all you wanna do is crawl up into a ball for a solid three days and hibernate to forget about the hell finals put you through.

2. Food

Nothing tastes better after surviving on instant mac and cheese and ramen noodles for five months than a good meal. There's finally time to sit down and relax and eat food that doesn't make you sick five minutes after eating it. Anything beats dining hall food.

3. Happiness

It takes a solid two days to realize that all your stress is actually truly gone, and you really don't have any more papers or exams to study for. However, once it finally hits you that you really do not have anything to do that requires MLA format or fifty double-sided notecards, you are overjoyed with happiness. And summer is a time to live, be free and be happy. So get through that first confusing week of summer, and enjoy the rest of it!

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
