Anticipation is in the air. Tension is running high. Every person on campus looks like they've forgotten they own clothes other than pajamas. Coffee has become an extra extremity. People are actually in the library. (And if you're from Carson-Newman, the library if finally open 24 hours! Praise God!) Everyone has a stress-induced murderous gleam in their eyes. Sleep has become a foreign concept, and all those Facebook memes are telling you in case you somehow missed it -- it's finals week.

Whether you have six tests you have to make 100s on in order to pass, or a 10-page research paper you have to write in two days, bottom line is that we're all stressed. No use trying to out-complain each other. Everybody's got it bad. So, here are eight of the most random songs on my Spotify that can be applied to whatever stage of finals week you're in.

1. "Concerning Hobbits" - Howard Shore

For all the nerds and movie buffs out there, this song--straight from the Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack -- is perfect for blasting through that ten-page paper you don't understand.

Or if you're a wizard and can listen to songs with actual words when you type, I recommend "All The Time" by Bahamas. Though, don't let the title disillusion you from what you're actually doing. That paper really is due in two days.

2. "Let It Go" - James Bay

This song is just what you need when you're making the final touches on that last project, knowing that once you submit it, only the good Lord can save your grade now.

3. "I Gotta Right To Sing The Blues" - Billie Holiday

Play this when you need a sulky song that still makes you want to dance out some frustration.

4. "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" - Chicago

This one is for that final nudge of encouragement when you're on the verge of sleep, but you know you need to pull that all-nighter.

5. "T-Shirt Weather" - Circa Waves

This little ditty is for when you've been locked in the library basement for days, and you need a reminder that summer is just around the corner.

6. "Closer Than This" - St. Lucia

Play this if you're not into Kanye and you need a song to power-walk to into (or out of) your final.

7. "Not Your Year" - The Weepies

When you get your final grades back knowing you'll have to try and explain them to your parents, and you need to sulk.

8. "As Time Goes" - JR JR

When you're finally done with the semester, and it's time to move on, drive off into that fresh, summer start blasting this song.

Now, I'm no professional music mixer, but hopefully this haphazard selection gave you some background noise, or at the very least provided a welcome distraction from your finals stress. So to one and all, good luck! Just remember that "We Are The Champions."

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
