As a content creator for The Odyssey Online, I made the decision to express myself and my opinions. Referring to one of my favorite subjects as an online writer, I have touched on the benefits and value of music through articles like “A Creative Boost Through Music,” “I Set My Clocks Early ‘Cause I Know I’m Always Late,” and “A Playlist Perfect For Each Of Your Emotions."
Music is more than a thing to listen to. It can evoke or impact emotions, recall memories, create relationships, and act as something to relate to. With numerous genres and sub-genres, there are endless possibilities when creating a playlist to fit a given occasion or mood. Although it may come off as repetitive for some to continue talking about music, I want to share yet another playlist this time tailored to fit one of the most stressful points in the year for a student - finals.

As the week's toward my first set of college finals progress, I can’t help but feel the rising pressure to memorize and learn every bit of information possible. Being an individual who doesn't tend to retain information easily, often using a mix of visual, verbal, physical, and aural learning styles, I understand the frustration that comes with multi-hour study sessions. Within thirty minutes I can feel my foot tapping, knee shaking, and the rising urge to do anything but homework. Although I do procrastinate with other homework at times, finals are different.
"I'll Meet You At Midnight" by SAM KIM
"Ghost" by Jacob Lee
"The Halocline" by Hippo Campus
"D (Half Moon)" by DEAN
"The Rain" by Oh Wonder
"New Rules" by Dua Lipa (Acoustic)
According to Mind the Science Gap, studies have shown that listening to music while studying can be beneficial in approving attention and memory depending on the genre. While I know that some people find themselves easily distracted by music when studying, it has often helped me to focus during those late night study sessions. I hope that this playlist can be beneficial to fellow students who are preparing for their finals and want to listen to something more laid back.
