Big families are insane. You have an assortment of people that each make up your family. Having a big family may be crazy sometimes, but it wouldn't be the same without each and every family member. I have came up with a list of family members that I feel every big family may have.

The Crazy Grandma

It wouldn't be a big family without her. Your grandma has to be a little bit crazy after raising 5-8 kids.

The Wise Grandpa

You can't help but admire him. He gave you this amazing family. He's one of the greatest guys you know, and love to sit and talk with him. He's quiet at family gatherings, but you can tell that he is overjoyed with this family that he has been given.

The One Who's Always Drunk At Family Events

If you don't know who it is, there's a very good chance that it is you.

Your Cousin Squad

At every family gathering, you go to your favorite room in your grandma's house to catch up on all of your lives. It's bittersweet when you get together because they are the people that you grew up with and you know they will always have your back.

The Different Generation Cliques

This is where you get flashbacks to memories of being locked out of the "cool" room where all of your older cousins would hang out. You weren't allowed in because you weren't old enough. It was the single greatest day of your life when you were FINALLY able to play with your older cousins.

The Farting Uncle

In my case, this happens to be my own father. You can't deny it though, you all have one.

The Crying Babies

But seriously, how great is it when your family members have babies?

The Kids Who Always Get Hurt

They trip and fall, but always bounce back.

The One Who's Always Pregnant

"Wait, how many kids do they have now?"

The One Who's Getting Married/Just Got Married

One of the main reasons why it's the best having a big family is getting together for family weddings. You can't help but get excited when you hear someone is engaged.

The One Who Just Had A Baby

Nothing to really say here because babies are the greatest thing ever at family gatherings. They're so cute and cuddly.

Your Favorite Aunt/Uncle

You da bomb.

Your Best Friend/Cousin

Some people get lucky, they get to have a best friend who happens to be their cousin. You share everything together, hang out constantly, talk to each other on the phone when you aren't together, AND get to see each other at family gatherings. It's the best of both worlds.

The Family Member Who Always Leaves Early

You don't even see it coming, they just slip out without anyone knowing.

The Family Members Who ALWAYS Show Up Late

This is definitely my family. My grandparents tell us to show up at the family gathering at 4, and we roll in at 5:38. It's no shock at all when our family has already ate before we have even got there.

The Family Member Who Brings The Best Food

You all have that one dish that has to be at every family gathering. You crave it the whole way there and fill up half of your plate with the food. Your family doesn't even blink an eye because they all do it too.

The One Uncle Who Just Sits In The Living Room And Watches TV The Whole Time

It's nice because he may be watching the big game on tv and you just cuddle up on the next couch and take a nap after dinner (that's what I do anyways).

The One Family Member Who Only Comes To Some Of The Family Gatherings

The cousins/aunt or uncle who live far away that can only come occasionally to the family gatherings. It's the best when they do get to come because it's a huge homecoming. You cherish every moment you get to see them.

The One Family Member You Always Sit By

You rely on the very spot to be open every time. If it isn't, you are like a lost puppy looking for some other place to sit. It isn't okay. You just sit in silence while eating your food.

The Family Member That's Always Single

Realizing that this is becoming me........

The One Who Always Has A Different Boyfriend/Girlfriend

You never remember the new boyfriend/girlfriends name, and your family gossips when you leave because we have to figure out what everyone thought of the person.

Your Grandma's Favorite

You know that your grandma loves all of her grandchildren, but it is very apparent who her favorite is. It doesn't help when you have five other cousins that were born in the same year. SHE CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHO WE ALL ARE (I blame our parents).

At the end of the day, you love your crazy, funny, weird, big family. Without the support of them, you wouldn't be where you are today. The endless memories at your grandmas house, the friendships that you gain from having multiple cousins, and the hilarious family get togethers are what make your life the best. You look forward to every family gathering and are sad when it is over. You love each and every one of your family members and are so blessed and thankful that you have them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
