The Positive Effects Of Wearing Cute Underwear

Who am I wearing them for? Me.

There aren't many things that make me feel like I can tackle the world. The list of things that make me feel like a strong and independent young woman basically equates to a good Beyonce song, when I finally make a phone call that I should've made to my doctor's office a long time ago, and my cute underwear.

Back in February, after buying four super cute and girly pairs for $20 at JCPenny's (I highly recommend looking there if you want cute, but affordable underwear) the questions started to come in, "Who are you wearing these for?", "Who's going to see them?", and many others just like that were asked by my parents, sibling, and anyone else who I excitedly told about my new found confidence-booster.

Who am I wearing them for? The answer? Me. I'm wearing my cute underwear for me. Nobody is going to see them. When I wear my underwear I feel empowered and beautiful. It's truly one of the only things that makes me look in the mirror and say, "Wow. I feel really pretty today." I wear them to know that under my clothes I look good. My cute underwear is one of the things I do for myself. I wear them because I like to wear them.

And there are plenty of things I do for me. I use the blackhead strips because I feel confident when my skin looks good. I wear my dress to a Barbeque because I like feeling put together. I do a handful of other things that fall into the cute underwear category. I do things because they make me feel empowered, beautiful, and confident.

Not everything has to be for someone else. Not everything I do is motivated by a boy. Yes, I will wear lipstick because my boyfriend loves that shade on me. One day I will wear that cute dress to one of his events because he thinks it brings out my eyes. It's okay if I want to do something for a boy, but not everything I do is for one.

You're right, no one is going to notice the blackheads on my nose, or when I leave the house without mascara on. Absolutely no one else is going to see my cute underwear, but I will. I will know that under my clothes I look good and because of that I will look and feel more confident.

Girls, find your cute underwear. Whatever makes you feel the way my cute underwear makes me feel, do it. Shave your legs because you can't stand the way they feel without doing it. Work out, wear makeup, and sport your favorite pair of heels because they make you feel like you are worthy and you just like the way you look in them. Wear push-up bras because they make you feel like you run the world. Paint your nails because you like to look at them when you type.

Whatever it is that makes you feel beautiful, whether people will notice it or not, whether people will ask what boy you're doing it for, do it.

We deserve to feel worthy, powerful, and strong because we are exactly that.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
