I’m the friend who gives advice but doesn’t take it.

Somehow I can figure out the right things to do in the majority of situations. Of course, not my own situations.

All my friends come to me when they need advice about boys or life in general. But why can I give the best advice, but not take it?

My life feels like a constant battle between what I know is right, and what I want to do about it. My heart and my head are just not on the same page.

I’ll sit here and tell myself I deserve better as I continue to fall for a boy who doesn’t give me what I want or need. A boy who I know cares about me but cares about himself way more.

I would never let a friend put herself in this position without telling her the truth; “don’t waste your time.” The problem is, I’m saying this at the same time I’m putting myself in the same situation.

Maybe it’s the fact that I care too much about people who could care less. I’d climb mountains for people who won’t even give me the time of day. Sometimes I wonder if I should just turn into a heartless bitch, but I know that I never could. The world is cruel, that doesn’t mean that I have to be.

Kindness and compassion have to start somehow, and it won’t begin with heartless souls.
