Christmas has come around again, and this year is special to me. I realized that I have not been in the Christmas spirit as much as I used to. It was something I looked forward to, but life circumstances somewhat deterred me.
Even if you don't celebrate Christmas that way, or celebrate another holiday, here are a few reasons that I do it.
It's a good way to de-stress.
This has been a stressful semester for various reasons, and getting back in the holiday mood really helped me cope. You get to focus on one thing instead of the million other things going on in your life. Trust me, you would rather figure out the right place to put ornament rather than work or upcoming deadlines.
Helps me focus on tasks.
When I decorated the Christmas tree at my home, I found myself doing a couple more chores around the apartment. I had the energy to do it! It inspired a weird motivation that I never thought of. The same thing happened when I decorated my smaller Christmas tree at college. It can be a productive time-killer!
It just makes you happy!
This goes hand-in-hand with my first point, but it does! Whether it is decorating, spending time with friends or family, or just getting out of the house, It gives you more reason to get some positive energy.
I only use Christmas trees as my primary example, but there are so many ways to enjoy the holiday season. It does not have to be a religious or traditional thing, it could just be fun! If you want, share some ways YOU enjoy the holidays! Be merry!
