Hey,

First off, this is a smoke-free campus, so unless you're smokin' hot (like, your looks) there should be zero smoking on campus. My precious lungs mean way too much to me for you to continue to destroy them. I get it, smoking was cool in high school when all the big kids did it... Wait. It wasn't cool then, and it's not cool now. You gotta stop. You have to. There are people who go to school here who actually can't be around cigarette smoke or else, you know, they die. Also, you yourself could potentially die, but maybe you find the whole "my lungs don't work" thing cool, and if you do, go somewhere else. I support everyone expressing themselves and doing their own thing, but no thanks. It's nasty. As my homegirl Raven Simone would say, "ya nasty." I'm sorry, but it needs to end.

The smoking needs to stop and Mississippi State needs to step up on controlling this issue because they're really disappointing me. I'm really sorry I don't enjoy walking to class and suffocating because someone decided to destroy their life (and mine) at 7:55 a.m. I also really don't like having cigarette butts stuck in my tennis shoes because that's also super gross. And let's not forget that cute boy in one of my classes is not a fan of smoking, and when I stroll up into one of my classes smelling like cigarette smoke, it doesn't work in my favor.

I don't mean to sound like a brat ( or maybe I do), but really, I'm just not okay with this. The cigarette smoke is worse than the freakin' bikers who run me over like, twenty times a day, and that says a lot. I like my campus like I like my life: free of cigarette smoke so it's easy to breathe. Let's just try to stop destroying this amazing campus with super nasty cigarette smoke. I know you're addicted, but I promise you can stop - like really, it is possible. I believe in you, we all believe in you. All of the students here know you can move on to bigger and better things, like protecting your body and living a long and happy life. I'm not trying to control you, I'm just trying to help you. We can be best friends if you stop slowly but surely ruining your life. I'll love you forever and I will hold you accountable so you don't start smoking again. It's your choice, though - keep destroying those lungs of yours, or save them. Let them know that you love them and you don't want to lose them by chilling out with cigarette smoke. You can do it...I promise.

Sincerely,

The girl who is literally choking walking behind you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
