The Brush Off Will Make You Stronger

When Higher-Ups try to tear you down - Conquer

The Brush Off Will Make You Stronger
Cassidy Kelley

This is for every time someone literally doesn't think of the integrity of a team as an entire entity. This is for every moment that you don't consider people to be people. For every fucking second that you think they aren't valuable or worthy. FOR EVERYONE who has EVER been let down by someone like that. Stop brushing us off, stop being an asshole to save face or for your "job" - we have feelings too, and we are in this as much as you.

Sitting behind

the lit screen

the lies.

Pretending to be fair

just

caring -

yet watching daggers

dig closer

thin lined.

Red stains

in passion

in distaste -

spend all of your time

giving every ounce

of your energy.

Hope to the powers that be

you've given enough.

Heart.

Soul.

Passion.

Time.

Unpaid -

unbridled -

always available -

always attainable -

always there.

Yet rivers run red.

water scales high

along broken cheeks.

Trying to reason

consider the other people

so unwarranted -

doing what they assumed was best

never once speaking or

thinking what could happen

when another line cracks.

Black-laced anger

straining to break free

caged by what is loved -

the door still falters.

Love may not be enough -

in times of war,

where lines crossed

deepened bleakness.

Cringe at the thought

that what you have

wasn't enough.

suddenly she comes back-

the fear

crawling up your skin;

her twin

anxiety

swirling her tales within your ears.

"not enough"

"not worthy"

"unwanted"

anger licks at the wounds

bubbling red lights fade.

Fit their mold

Fill their lots

Fall into line -

do this

and you'll always be fine.

Be different.

Love.

Devote.

Care.

Where does that leave you?

Presently standing on hells feet

caressing the passions dying within

as anger tears into the skin.

dig a little deeper.

find a little more to give.

give it all or nothing.

... but what happens when there's nothing left?

When bleakness takes hold?

where love no longer wins?

where power is relinquished?

where anger... is the driver?

Teams.

An extension of family -

loved

cherished

passionate.

Can they not see it,

behind lit screens?

Can they not view it?

Stain my skin another shade of red -

You have no power over me.

Staying for them -

because we both know

that you won't support them

either way.

When you don't have the support of those higher up - when you feel like they're out to dislodge what you do or how you feel, remember why you're here. The team - the team is what you signed up for. The family is why you're still here, so don't be discouraged when someone tries to take you or your family down - Goonies never say die, so you shouldn't either. Stay strong and they can't touch you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
