The end of summer blues is currently sweeping the country as the start of school edges closer and closer. This is around the time of year I try to pump myself up for the next year of school. We all know school is not as bad or as long as we imagine it, but the end of summer is still a struggle to most students.
1. How long does summer need to be?
As fun as summer is, two months gives you a lot of time to become bored. You have probably completed everything on your summer bucket list, as well as watched all you favorite shows on Netflix and then some. What else do you need to do? The phrase 'I'm bored," or "There's nothing to do," has probably passed your mind more than twice. School will allow you to escape this boredom and even give you new things to invest your time in with clubs, homework and sports.
2. The end of summer doesn't mean the end of fun.
School may seem like it sucks the life out of you, but it doesn't. You can still watch movies, go to the mall and hang out with friends. Your life it not over.
3. School Supplies
Whether these be clothes, notebooks or pens and pencils, getting new things is never feels bad. It also gives you a chance to personalize and design your aesthetics for the school year. If you're like me, you tend to just grab black and white binders and notebooks, but that doesn't have to be the case. I found composition notebooks with patterns and different colors for the same price as the usual black and white. Having a colorful set of school supplies is a simple way to brighten up the school year.
4. Look on the bright side!
School means you get to see your friends five days a week, every week. There are also a bunch of fun extracurricular activities to do. You will never be bored again.
5. Learning New Things
School was made for learning, and so were you. Homework might be a pain, but the actual learning part, you have to admit, is very interesting. You can rekindle your love of learning and curiosity, and get the gears in your brain turning again.
6. Back To School Playlist
Whether this includes study music or songs to dance to while you get ready, this helps me every year. I create a playlist on Spotify that I can listen to any morning I can't find the strength to go to school. The playlist doesn't need to only consist of music either — it can be audiobooks, podcasts or motivational talks. Anything that will help you get up for school.
8. It's almost over.
The sooner it starts the sooner it is over. You have been through it a thousand times before, and it always goes by in a flash. You can handle it for the thousand and one time.
