The Best Things About Me Challenge

If you've read my past articles, you might have caught on to my passion for positive thinking and self-love. So this week I am challenging you as my audience to think pretty deep, past all of your worries and self-criticisms and tell me the best things about yourself. Lift yourself up like you would your best friend. I'll admit that I needed to get a little bit of help from my own best friend to write my list, but when she sent me her mile long list of all of my best qualities, I couldn't disagree with any of them. Let's love ourselves this week! Here are some of the best things about me.

1. I am Loyal

I've had the same best friend for 15 years now. If that doesn't scream loyalty, I'm not sure what does. I want nothing more than for the people that I love to succeed and be the best versions of themselves. I am loyal in the sense that I will do whatever they need me to do in order for them to get where they need to be in their lives. I'll praise them when praise is earned, and I will tell them the hard truth when its needed. If I have a relationship with you, I am in it for the long haul.

2. I am Passionate

I put 100 percent into everything that I do. I hate failing, and if I can avoid disappointing anyone or myself, I'll do whatever it takes. Some examples of things I am passionate about are mental health awareness, self love, sex education, reproductive healthcare, and the list goes on.

3. I am Funny

I'm actually hilarious, and you'll know that if you've ever heard my hummus joke. I hate when the people I love are sad or upset, so I usually try to be the light in the room and keep everyone smiling. Whether it's by cracking a joke, or dramatically telling a story, I like to get people laughing.

4. I am Beautiful

Now, according to society and internet trolls, this isn't true. But let's face it, I'm gorgeous. I'd be lying if I said that I thought this way about myself all the time, but realizing the beauty that I possess was one of the best things I could have ever done for myself. Something important that I am able to see is that my worth does not depend on how beautiful I am. I know that being loyal, passionate and funny are all critical factors in making me who I am.

I'll have to admit that writing this article wasn't easy, and that, what I see as bragging, about myself is a difficult task. I almost gave up on this article in the process, but I was determined to be the start of what hopefully will be an amazing response of self love and lifting yourselves and your friends up in praise of all of your best qualities. So please, no matter how short or long your list is, share them and give yourself some credit for how amazing you are. I can't wait to read them!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
