Dear All Swim Moms (but mainly mine),
There is so much that I could say in this but I have to keep it short. The only reason is because I am at a swim meet (shocker right?).
There are so many things I want to thank you for, so here goes nothing.
1. Thank you for endless hours in the car.
All those trips to PCY, TG & CAT.
I am forever thankful for you, Mommy, for all the hours you have played Candy Crush just sitting there, waiting on me. For all the hours you have listened to me rant on the way home or on the way there. Of course, it all changed this year when I went off to college, so therefore, we resorted to face-time or talking on the phone.
2. Thank you for so many hours on the road.
Those meets all over the state, even some in North Carolina. I will forever be thankful for all those hours we spent in the car together.
3. Thank you for a lot of money put into a sport I love (of course).
Suits, caps, goggles, tech suits, gear bag stuff. Not to mention, all the poo&dish you have bought over the years, the razors and shaving cream.
Swimming wouldn't be able to be done without any of this stuff.
4. Thank you for countless hours at swim meets.
Thanks for always letting me stay and cheer/count for all my friends, even if they weren't on my team. Thanks for being there after great swims, good swims, okay swim and bad swims. Thanks for letting me tell you about everything that happened, even though you saw it with your own two eyes.
This goes without saying, but swim meets have team outings and eating. Most of the time, I'm one of those kids who heads up going to eat or going to movies between prelim/final meets. Our lives wouldn't be the same if we didn't have moms in the sport who will just drive us anywhere and everywhere. Once again, one day at a swim meet, you will beat Candy Crush once and for all. Thanks for getting me through all the hardships of many coaches leaving, but I know our lives wouldn't be the same if we had not encountered them.
Mommy, I am so glad you have dedicated so much time, money and effort to mine and Bubby's sports. We wouldn't be where we are if you hadn't been there for us every step of the way.
Love you always,
Fly Girl or Distance Free Girl (depending on the day)
