Here are the four best songs of singer Lewis Capaldi.
1. "Before You Go"
My Favorite song of his simply because of how vulnerable and real he is. The song is about losing a loved one to mental health. You can hear the pain and heart ache in his voice within every lyric he sings. He explains the process of mourning after the loss and how he regrets not making them a priority. He asks the question "was there anything I could've done to make your heart beat better" and ponders every encounter leading up to the see the signs they were showing.
2. "Grace"
Capaldi's range is so unique. He manages to transform normal notes into powerful and strong melodies. He has a way of mixing his alto range and raspy voice to compose his different singing styles. This song, in particular, talks about a relationship that saved him in his time of need. It's slowly dying out, but he is worried he will just fade and revert to the person he was before without them. He pleads with them to not take their "grace" away from him, because without it he doesn't know who he is.
3. "One"
This song starts off sounding like a breakup song, but as you listen further, it transforms into a thank you for the past lovers of his significant other. He sends his gratitude to the heartbreak and pain that they caused. He is so happy they let them get away, because if they hadn't broken their heart he wouldn't have had the chance to love them.
4. "Maybe"
Capaldi spirals into self evaluation after he continuously gets himself into unfortunate situations. He blames himself for how good situations always ends up getting ruined. This is a feeling I think everyone has felt and that's what makes it so relatable, but still delivered in a very distinct way. He has such a way of utilizing all aspects of music to make a vulnerable and individual delivery.
