To Working With Dogs, The Best Job I Have Ever Had

I am in love with my job and recommend this line of work for anyone who wants to have fun while actually enjoying their job.

I have been working at my current job for a little over 2 months now and I can say it is the best job ever. What could make a job so fun you ask? It's simple, really, dogs.

After I quit my last job, I knew I had to find another line of work and it had to be something I really enjoyed. I had been dreading going to work every day for the last four years and needed a change. I worked in retail with the screaming customers who "want to see a manager" and I have been yelled at, cussed at, called names, had unwanted sexual advances and had my very being demeaned in so many ways. I was done. I no longer wanted to face the general public, I just wanted to never deal with any of it ever again. Sadly, though, we all must make money and so job searching I went.

That's when I found the most amazing job ever. I barely talk with people who aren't my coworkers, and when I do talk to customers they're very nice and happy. I feel like my work is very rewarding and feel content going to and leaving work every day. There are plenty of jobs out there that don't suck, but living in the midwest doesn't present very many opportunities for fun, creative jobs. I was not looking for this line of work, I just happened to be driving by the place one day and saw a help wanted sign. It just proves that the internet can't help you all of the time, sometimes you've got to venture forth into the real world to get what you want.

So I'm sure you're dying to know what this amazing job is. Well, I work at a doggie daycare. Now, honestly you have to at least like dogs for this job to be a good fit for you, and you certainly cannot be scared of them or it won't work at all. You also have to be able to move quickly on your feet and have some patience, but if you fit the requirements this kind of job will be the best you've ever had!

Dogs > People. It's just a fact. Humans can suck sometimes but most dogs are just happy to be in your company. Truthfully some dogs can get rowdy but in my experience, they usually just don't understand the boundaries of what is okay and what isn't. I have never had a dog be intentionally mean to me, unlike a lot of people I've experienced.

Dog daycare facilities usually have something called "Day Camp," which is basically a fenced in yard where all the dogs play and hang out for the day. Who among us could have a bad day with 25+ dogs surrounding them? I can't!

I certainly enjoy my job and if you're looking for a summer job this one would be great! It can be hard and there is defiantly a learning curve, but I have never felt this confident in myself at a job before. I suggest that if you are job hunting look outside the box, you do not have to get a normal retail job or a 9-5 office job. Go out and find your passion, there is certainly a job or a career to make out of it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
