Now a days, students in college are straying away from cute dates and are gravitating towards hook ups. I think this partly has to do with how busy students are and their financial status. Don't worry though, below is a list of date ideas that don't break the bank.

1. Have a picnic in the park

This is a classic, and you can never go wrong. Gather up some blankets, make sandwiches, and go to a nature park. Picnics are so relaxing and the perfect way to get away from the stress of college.

2. Stargazing

Stargazing is honestly so fun if you haven't done it before! If you have a flat or somewhat slanted roof, bring a blanket up there and lay down. Just be quiet and listen to the crickets chirp and watch the stars. This is also the perfect opportunity to wish on a shooting star!

3. Go to the lake

If you have a hammock, take it to Table Rock Lake and set it up there. Dewey Short visitor center has the perfect hammocking spots. There is something about swaying back and forth with the waves that gives you a peace of mind.

4. Geocaching

Geocaching is for the adventurous couples. If you don't know, geocaching is like a scavenger hunt for things that people place through your area. You download an app that lets you see the general area of where to look. It is very fun, but please be cautious and always aware of your surroundings!

5. Drive around and jam to music

Get in your summer vibes (in summer of course)! Make a shared playlist of your favorite songs, then roll down the windows and crank the music up. This will for sure lift your spirits.

6. Test drive your dream cars

Okay, but seriously, this is the best. If you are over 18, go to a car dealership and test drive all the cars. Then you can tell all your friends about it. Super fun.

7. Go to Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Eureka Springs, about 2 and a half hours from Springfield, is the cutest little town you will ever visit. There are so many photo ops, cute shops, amazing restaurants, and eccentric people!

8. Go hiking

This is a go to. Missouri is filled with hiking trails. Embrace the state's natural beauty and enjoy the outdoors! Fresh air is nice once in a while.

9. Volunteer at The Humane Society

What's better than your boyfriend/girlfriend and dogs? Nothing. Thought so. Not only do you get to hang out with dogs (and some cats depending on the location), but you get to help out animals in need.

10. Go house hunting

Jazz this one up a bit. Dress up all fancy and go to open houses at huge mansions. Then never make an offer on the house. Perfect.

11. Build a fort

You are never too young to build a fort. Don't fight me on this.

12. Stay at home, watch a movie, and make cookies

This is a classic, maybe a little cliche, but it never fails to make me happy.

13. Go ghost hunting

Research the scariest places near where you live and go there. Take a flashlight and make sure to record everything (if it is legal)!

14. Play hide and seek in a big store

I have always wanted to do this, but I haven't had the opportunity. Walmart, Target, Sams, etc are all good stores to play hide and seek in. If you really wanna spice it up, go to IKEA. Now that is a real game of hide n seek.

15. Make a time capsule

This one may be a bit cheesy, but I really don't care. Get a sustainable box, maybe a metal one, and fill it with memories and pictures of the two of you. Bury it in the ground and mark the spot with a big rock or something along those lines. Then make yourself a note on your phone's calendar to open it a couple years from now.

16. Cooking competition

Sharpen your knives and butter your pan, we're having a cook-off. This can be some healthy competition. Have someone else judge the food.

17. Jim vs Dwight prank war

Who doesn't love a good old prank war? Dedicate one night to pranking each other. It would be funny to record each other and then making one big video.

18. Do each others makeup

This could go very badly, butttt it's funny sooo. If you do this, please post on social media so the world can laugh along with you.

19. Make a bonfire and snuggle up with hot cocoa

I can feel the warmth already. This is adorable and the perfect time to snuggle.

20. Have a dance party

Turn up and get LIT. Throw away all your worries and problems. Just let loose and have fun!

Hopefully this helps you and significant other figure out your next date! There is no reason that dates need to cost lots of money. Have fun, be safe, and GO BEARS!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
