If any of you don't know, COLLEGE IS VERY STRESSFUL.
You heard about the parties, the football games, and being away from your parents... no rules.
No one warned you that you'd want to pull your hair out of your head after syllabus week came to a close. No one warned you that although you take less hours of class per week than you did in high school, it is so much harder than high school ever was.
You know what makes it hard? We put so much pressure on ourselves to be successful. Why?
I've spent hours stressing over a small quiz grade that didn't bump up my grade much. I've spent days studying for exams and wishing I did better. Why stress? What's past is past. I tried my best, and I'll try harder next time.
My dad gave me the best advice: if no one is dying, everything will be okay.
At first, I thought that is so silly. Of course no one is dying! I'm just in college, studying like everyone else. Then in hit me:
I'M JUST IN COLLEGE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
I'm on my way to the big leagues. This is just a stepping stone to get me there. I'll make it, but I just have to be patient and work hard.
Life is going to throw some huge curveballs, but I've been practicing. I'll take some strikes, but I'll hit some homers too.
The best part is... YOU'RE ON THE WAY TO DO WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO.
For me, I've always wanted to be a writer. College is tough, but it's teaching me so much. I thought I knew everything in high school, not even close.
So, when college is stressing you out., just remember that everyone is struggling just as much as you... and some, more. It's just a stepping stone.
