The Benefits of the Holiday Season
Stylish Eve

Life has a variety of events that we deal with throughout the day. The world has a way of overwhelming us with the sheer amount of responsibilities that we have to fulfill, and there are various dilemmas that come with those tasks. Along with worrying about grades and employment opportunities if you are in college, you also have to worry about bills and taking care of yourself in the real world. Life can be confusing enough, and we don't get enough chances to enjoy our time in the world. We are faced with difficult times, but the holidays offer several wonders to our stressful lives.

The holidays are an opportunity to relieve stress. As a college student who lives away from home for extended periods of time, I worry about commitment and responsibility on a daily basis. College is a whirlwind of duties where I have to keep track of my assignments, in addition to studying for endless amounts of hours in order to succeed. Even though college has been full of opportunities for me, it can get very stressful at times. It becomes exhausting to worry about my classes all of the time, and the holidays give me an excellent chance to get away from the stress. I can live in a safe environment that doesn't require too much effort from me, and I can relax for a period of time.

I am faced with immense happiness, as well. Life can be a busy, often unforgiving world that makes us stay on top of numerous burdens. There's so much to do in the time that we are given, and we are faced with tough moments that test the essence of our character. The holidays are life's way of letting me step aside from my concerns, and they encourage me to let out positive emotions. Whether it is eating a delicious meal on Thanksgiving or opening presents on Christmas, the holidays offer so much joy and exuberance. This time in our lives is a vehicle that is meant for us to have a good time and enjoy ourselves. They show the gifts that life can bestow upon us.

We can also connect with loved ones during the holidays. Even though leaving home leads to new ventures in our lives, it comes with its own sets of challenges. Various circumstances lead us to being separated from people that matter to us for long periods of time, and we wind up missing our families and friends. The holidays let us see our closest relatives, as we talk to them and find out what has occurred in their lives. Thanksgiving and Christmas are vehicles for us to catch up friends that we care about, as they rekindle friendships and remind us of what we strive to live for every day.

Overall, the holidays are a cheerful part of life. They take away stress, as we forget about the demands that are presented to us. We are faced with optimism as exhilaration surrounds us wherever we go, and we can create lasting memories. Friends and families strengthen their relationships with each other as well, as they get to see each other again. The holidays are a period of brightness for us, and they make us indulge in wonderful delights.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
