Do you notice your mood feeling a little better? The stress and weight of midterms and projects feeling a little lighter on your shoulders? Do you subconsciously walk a little slower around campus to take in and appreciate the outdoors? Whether you realize it or not, Spring is in full blossom. Welcome to the beauty of spring.

What in God’s name makes spring so special? Is it the blooming of wildflowers in small spurts, watching their petals flex outwards and extend beyond their stem, or is it the chirping of cardinals and blue jays as they look for worms and beetles to bring to their youth.

Some people may already be caught up with summertime arrangements, eagerly counting down the days till school is over. Alas, slow down and consume all of the natural beauty of the outdoors I say to them. Take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air and the savory scent of wildlife that gives the outdoors its distinct aroma.

Most people are fixated on the summer’s excruciating heat; longing for the sun to bash against one’s skin in hopes of catching a tan, but let’s take in spring while it lasts. It’s truly the only season where one could be wearing layers upon layers of clothing, or they could be sweating bullets amidst an unexpected heat wave. It’s this uncertainty that I admire as the beauty of Spring.

In April, continuous rainfall and melancholy weather have since melted away the frigid winds and snow, leaving behind few, if any remnants of winter. However, as the commonly known phrase goes: April showers bring May flowers. And this we must accept comes with spring's unpredictable and turbulent weather. It makes you really appreciate and enjoy the warm and sunny days that sporadically come and go.

It’s why I never take a spring day for granted. There’s nothing like hanging out on the quad with your friends throwing a football around or studying in a group. During the summer, the blistering heat is too hot and it forces everyone to evacuate to the nearest air conditioning unit. However in spring, oh yes, in spring, people emigrate outside in massive waves.

Call me old fashion if you will, but there is nothing like spending a day leisurely basking in the sun, enjoying the beautiful scenery and impeccable weather. It’s been a past time for me and it certainly will become one for you once you start to appreciate one of the shortest seasons of the year.

The grass turns to a prime emerald green, soft and plush underneath your feet. The flowers have begun to sprout in a plethora of bright and radiant colors. Even the surrounding wildlife want to enjoy the spring season, coming out of doldrums to wallow outside.

Whether you like it or not, spring is in full swing. So sit back and enjoy the ride because before you know it the scorching heat of summer will be upon us.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
