There are truly a lot of hidden gems in New Hampshire. Here and there we find ourselves stumbling upon beautiful scenery and a truly life changing experience. I feel that I am stumbling upon more and more hidden gems every time I go to Portsmouth, NH. Yes, we all have our favorite shops in Portsmouth but it is truly impossible to experience everything in one day.
Fall is the most beautiful version of Portsmouth. Buses are literally on hand just to bring up tourists looking to appreciate the foliage. There is nothing like a day on the streets of Portsmouth. You run into people from all over. In just a day I have met a family straight from Ireland celebrating a wedding to a couple from London just looking to get away. I have also had the privilege to spend a day in the art galleries of Portsmouth simply soaking it all in. The coffee shops are an unbelievable place to meet unbelievable people. Christmas shopping for little meaningful trinkets is best done in the little shops scattered amongst the delicious dining opportunities. Looking for nice pictures and a chance to see the water? Portsmouth is the answer to all of these questions.
Here's a few of my favorites from Portsmouth:
Downtown: Here is the main stretch of Portsmouth, the best place to simply sit down and have a coffee admiring all that is around.
The Rosa: Looking for good Italian food? Unbelievable food at The Rosa with an even better atmosphere. Found on the right in the picture below and found in Portsmouth right before crossing the bridge into Maine.
Lodging: Looking for a place to stay? The Sheraton Harborside provides the perfect location with it's beautiful spot on the water.
There is no place like this hidden gem and I recommend it to anyone looking for a weekend away. Have a ball and forget the technology for a while... welcome to Portmsouth.
