The Art And Practice Of Tailgating

Sports are such a powerful, unifying thing that bring thousands and millions of people together. You can automatically connect with the stranger in the supermarket who is wearing a Yankees jersey because you are huge Yankees fan yourself. It is that immediate connection and bond that is so special to us and one of the amazing ways that sports unite people. Another way, which is what this article is going to delve into, is the art and practice of the tailgate.

There are myriad components to a tailgate, and utilizing as many of those components as possible will make for a great tailgate. Some may seem a little strange for some, but trust me, it will make your tailgating experience that much better. These are the tricks of the trade when it comes to the ultimate tailgating experience:

  1. Get a grill and start cooking (steaks, burgers, hot dogs, kebabs, etc.).
  2. If you didn’t bring anything to put on the grill, set it up anyway (it makes you look more legit).
  3. Bring some chips and snacks to munch on while the grill is working its magic.
  4. Remember to stay hydrated throughout the tailgate.
  5. Make sure your beverages are on ice (a 12-pack of b... soda is always better cold).
  6. Bring a football and throw it around like you are trying out for the team.
  7. Bring cornhole and set up a tournament with your friends.
  8. Take some speakers with you and blast music that will get you excited for the game.
  9. Play an NFL soundtrack -- this may sound weird but it will help you get pumped up for the game.
  10. If you can, bring a tent or an umbrella to get some shade for a little while.
  11. Bring comfortable foldable chairs so that you don’t have to sit in the car or on the back of the car.
  12. Remember to put on some sunscreen if it is a sunny, hot day (you’ll thank me the next day).
  13. Make sure to put on body paint, your favorite jersey and your lucky hat to show how dedicated you are to your team.
  14. Get a great group of people together that will help create an exciting, enjoyable atmosphere to the tailgate and to the game.

The tailgate is a big part of a sporting event, especially for football. It brings people together and creates an environment where people can relax, have fun, eat great food, be outside and enjoy themselves and their company. It makes the overall experience of a sporting event that much better because the game is always awesome (unless your team gets destroyed), and we also have the tailgate, which is a designated time for everyone to have fun and get ready to watch a great game.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.
