One of the first things I am asked when I go home is, " How is college going?" This is a question I am asked countless times during the holiday season. I respond every time with the standard answer of, "It's great! I have a great group of friends and I love my major!" Let me explain in a little more detail what I mean when I say this.
I love college. I think I have been ready to go to college since I was a freshman in high school. I am having the time of my life. I love the freedom, but that being said I do miss my family. It is weird not seeing them every day, but I am happy where I am.
I have met an amazing group of people. I have a group of friends that have become more like family. The way I explain this to people is that when you're in high school you come home from class and generally tell your family about your day. You have dinner with them and then you hang out with them until you go to bed.
That is what I do with my friends. We spend at least eight hours a day together studying, eating, or just hanging out. I love them and I am beyond blessed to have met them. My college experience would be so different without them.
Purdue was the school for me. I cannot imagine being anywhere else. This campus has so much history and the thought of walking the same campus that my great-grandfather walked in 1904 is cool to think about. The thought of having the love for the black and gold in common with notable alumni like Neil Armstrong, Drew Brees, and Orville Redenbacher is mind-blowing to me. It makes me feel as if I can truly make a difference in this world.
I love my major. No, I am not just saying that...I really do love it. I have added minors in Global Studies and Political Science, and a certification in Public Policy into my major of Supply Chain, Information and Analytics to make my major combine all of my passions. I am not saying that I don't have days that I question what I am doing, but I am saying I have found my passion and I will graduate with this major.
So in summary I love college. It is amazing. I am happy with my decision to come here, and I wouldn't change my life for the world.
