Knowing and loving this prestigious university is something University of Miami students do not take lightly. Located in the business and culture hub of Miami, it is a unique place. For us students it didn't take us long to learn the ways of a Miami students, so here are the ABC's of the University of Miami.

UMiami is the top school in Florida. Holla!

B is for Brickell

Another essential Miami hotspot.

C is for Clubbing

Miami is one of the biggest cities for clubbing. With our students' favorite clubs being LIV, Bodega, STORY, Mokai, and many more. Clubbing is a religion here.

D is for Dooley Memorial

It is where our lectures are held and where we are tested on our class materials, because, after all, we are here to learn.

E is for an Excellent Degree

With Miami’s small class sizes, dedicated counselors, and professors, no wonder a degree from Miami is so noteworthy.

F is for Frenk

Our dear President Frenk, who’s officially the cutest old guy ever; not to mention a renowned writer and brainiac.

G is for Greek life

With so many fraternities or sororities to rush, you know you’ll find the best fit for you and expect good times ahead.

H is for Hispanic food

Whether it is Cuban food from Versailles, Spanish Tapas, Brazilian Churrasco, Argentinian empanadas, or any of the other Latin delicacies you can find in Miami, our students cannot get enough.

I is for IM Fields

It brings out the Brad Kaya in all of us. The IM Fields are also a great place to people-watch on slow afternoons after classes end.

J is for Jamba Juice

Jamba Juice is the best place to get a quick and filling snack before a morning of quizzes or a long night out with friends. One banana berry smoothie please!

K is for Keg-stands

Of course, a classic…

L is for Lake Osceola

Lake Osceola is not for swimming, but it is a beautiful place to sit by and study, tan, or simply chill.

M is for Mark Light Milkshakes

Mark Light Milkshakes are the best in any of the available 15 flavors. If you attend one of our baseball games, be sure to get one of these treats with a side of seasoned fries.

N is for not going to FSU

As our response to their fight song includes, f*ck youuuu Seminoles!

O is for Orange and Green

These aren’t just colors; here at the U, we bleed orange and green.

P is for Pitchers at The Rat

Nothing is better on a hot Miami day than a ice cold pitcher of beer at The Rat. Highly coveted by “of age” seniors, The Rat is a sanctuary after a long night at the library.

Q is for Quarterback

All fans alike love to adore our quarterback of the season as an honorable part of our student body.

R is for Richter Library

Also known as Club Lib, the library is where the partiers become the astute students the University has developed them to be.

S is for Sebastian the Ibis

Our lovable mascot who never seems to get tired of cheering and dancing.

T is for Tailgates

Nothing is better than football/tailgate season around the U. Whether you are a sports enthusiast, team lover, or a fangirl of the quarterback, there is something about UMiami football that we all love.

U is for the UC Pool

It's brand new and it's everyone's favorite spot to chill in between classes... I mean, we are in Miami, right?

V is for the Views

I mean, look at our beautiful campus!

W is for winning

With five national championships, numerous famous alumni, and award winning students, Miami is always #winning.

X is for (E)xpletives you scream during finals SZN

There almost isn't enough Starbucks in the world to get one through Finals season, but at UMiami we sure do try.

Y is for Yellow Parking

… the worst.

Z is for Zzzz

No student can get through the week without a few solid power-naps. “Sorry I napped."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
