Mother's Day is a time to be thankful for the love, guidance, and support that our favorite women provide for us as mothers. It's important to recognize their hard work and dedication every single day, but we often forget to tell them just how much we appreciate, admire, and look up to their strong hearts.

Mama, you are everything I wish to be someday. I look up to you because of your lovable personality, your story-telling skills, your contagious laughter, your amazing hugs, your drive for education, your perseverance through obstacles, and your heart that never gives up, never stops loving, and glows with a hint of orange so bright that all the angels in the world make sure to kiss you goodnight.

I know how fond we both are of ABC books so I decided to create an ABC list of reasons why I love that you're my mama. Thanks for being you, mom. <3

Always knows the right things to say.

Even if I don't want to hear it.

Believes in me when I forget to believe in myself.

Always a "You can do it" or "Focus on your breathing, not on your thoughts" text away.

Cooks the most amazing everything.

Cheddar chicken and beef stew are my favorites but there's not one thing you make that I would ever turn down.

Dances in the car with me.

It's the faaaaacccceeee!

Everyone knows you and everyone loves you.

And I mean everyone.

Full of life, stories and sarcasm.

Three key words.

Gives 110% in everything you do.

You didn't raise no slacker so you ain't one either.

Heart of gold sprinkled with emerald whispers.

"Tears may fall but I am here so hush".

Inspirational beyond belief.

I hope I can live up to your high bar of a teacher, wife, and mother.

Just gets it.

You just get it, mom.

Kindest soul I've ever met.

Thankful that my soul was created from your soul.

Laughter that fills the room and my heart.

You seriously have the best laugh. It automatically makes any story even funnier whether it's the first time you've told it or the seventeenth.

Married to the most amazing man.

You picked a good one. Hope my husband loves me the way daddy loves you, complete with sarcasm, inside jokes, that cool thing you guys do where you'll both be on the same page about something even if I talk to you separately, and you have no idea what the other one said about the topic. Hashtag parenting goals.

No-nonsense approach.

You are no nonsense. Which is awesome because that's how you get shit done. But there's always a second chance at auntie's house.

Overachiever but under-appreciated.

It's just what you do. Know that the important people in your life always appreciate you.

Pumpkin bread.

Enough said.

Quick on your feet.

I don't even know how you come up with some of those witty comments. This also applies to split-second decision making. I don't think you passed this gene on to me.

Really, really beautiful.

On the inside and out.

Supportive, strong, and just so lovely.

You are graceful, classy, and live such a happy life despite the hardships that have been thrown at you. You living a life like that allows me to live a life like that. Thank you. <3

Takes care of my disease.

I know I do most of the whole insulin pump thing on my own now but I can't even tell you how much I appreciate you making prescription phone calls, ordering supplies, and setting up appointments.

Uber good listener.

Until the glasses come off and you roll over because at that point you're basically already sleeping. Any other time of the day, though, you're all ears.

Velvet stardust follows your footsteps.

You always leave a person or room happier than you found it.

Wise as they come.

You must have gotten your wisdom from Popah.

eXtra special.

This one is always our go-to option for the letter X! ;)

You have three children who love you more than words can express.

One is in college, one is in heaven, and one is probably doing homework in your bed right now. Even though we are all in different places, we all love you so incredibly much and are so grateful that we each have a piece of you written into our story. You are our home and together we will live in your heart forever.

Zigzags through this journey with the attitude: "Just because it's a bad day doesn't mean it's a bad life".

This has gotten me through some pretty rough days. Another favorite is: "If no one has told you they love you today, know that I do and I always will". And mama? I always, always will.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
