I think we can all agree that The Oscars is the biggest awards show for film. Although, this year seemed to be a little less about the entertainment and a little more about politics. Actors, producers, and writers alike addressed important matters such as diversity, gender equality, and climate change. Their political agendas did not make it any less exciting, though, so without further ado here are some Oscar highlights in case you missed it, or you just really like to reminisce.
And the winner is ...
"Mad Max," again, for: Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, Production Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, Film Editing and Costume Design.
"Mad Max" won a total of six categories at this year's Oscars. #winning
Andy Serkis takes a jab at Donald Trump before announcing the winner for best visual effects. He started his speech with, "Visual effects can make a person into anything ranging from a maniacal monster out to destroy a planet or into Donald Trump, although I guess that's not very diverse."
Chris Rock brought out his daughter and her Girl Scout troop to sell cookies. They raised $65,243.
Come back next year to see me selling high-fives to raise money for my tuition.
"Inside Out" won Best Animated Feature Film. It is "Toy Story's" 20th anniversary, and the Pixar crew had the best thing to say: "We're the luckiest people in the world because we get to make stuff."
Joe Biden showed up and because of the five minutes of a standing ovation, and I think we can all assume that most people in the film industry are Democrats.
And finally, Leo won an Oscar ... only took 25 years of acting.
In all seriousness, all of those involved in The Oscars who tried to bring awareness to current issues deserve some credit in sharing their 45 seconds devoted to making the world a better place. It may have seemed like two hours driven by political agenda, but there are at least 30 million of us still willing to watch.
