Oh, finals… the time of year that every college student loses their mind. Step a foot on a college campus and you can feel the stress of students all around you. There is a constant struggle between wanting to go home for the holidays and being too worried about our exams to even think about things like that.
So, as a college student myself, here are the 5 thoughts that go through our heads.
1. What’s the date of the exam?
Our professors have probably told us at least 5 times what the date and time of our finals were. Each time, we ignored, thinking, “Oh, that’s still far away”. Surprise! It’s here! So… when is it again? Time to mark the calendar! Oh, wow, look at that... it's only two weeks out.
2. OK, now what is it on?
Cumulative? Only the last few units? Things we should know but haven’t exactly learned? Please just tell me so I know what to study otherwise I'm going to spend hours studying pointless things.
3. 1,2,3 Cram.
OK, we have the date, we have the material, now it’s time to study like we never have all semester. That probably means no sleep, unlimited time at the library, and unlimited caffeine. Healthy…right?
4. Ace it.
Walk in. Do your thing.
5. Crash and be proud of yourself.
You did it! Another semester down! Now it's time to sleep, spend an amazing holiday with your family, and do it all over again.
Remember, no matter how stressful final exams are, don't ever forget to take care of yourself during them. A healthy mind will lead to better test scores rather than a burnt out one. If you're feeling too overwhelmed, don't be afraid to take a break and breathe. At the end of the day, it's all going to be OK.
