For years, I've been watching shows (probably unhealthily) in short amounts of time. I did it before Netflix was a thing and before it was seen as an accomplishment. But of course, Netflix has only made it easier and has normalized binge-watching a show. But in all my years of doing this, I've realized that there are multiple stages that one goes through when sitting down with a new show.
1. The Timid Beginning
So you've started a new show. You've heard good things and bad things, but you want to find out for yourself. There's always a couple episodes of weariness, but you power through and start to actually enjoy (or hate) the show.
2. "Alright, alright, alright!"
You've started to like it. You're not in love with it yet, but you've accepted the fact that everyone that said this show was good, was right.
3. In the Zone
How many episodes have you watched? Who knows? All you know is that it's getting crazy and you don't want to move or pause or anything.
4. Closing In
You're close to the end and you know it. There are 6 seasons and you're at the end of season 4. You'll try to savor the last two seasons, but you'll plow through them anyways.
5. The End
You've finally made it. Now you either have to wait a year for the next season or that's it - no more show. You binged 6 seasons in 3 weeks, take a breather and come back and start again in a week.
