In order to perform any kind of task, you must stay motivated and productive. I am still trying to figure out how to balance my time and schedule, because I have fallen into this black hole called procrastination. It’s 7 o’clock in the evening and I am scrolling through Instagram, Snapchat and many other social medias. I tell myself that I am actually going to start studying in 30 minutes and that there’s so much time I have to finish this assignment.

The “30 Minute Rule” is when you divide all the tasks into 30 minutes increments, to maintain the preventing extensive energy on one task. Here are four ways on how to use this rule.

1. How Do I Break My Time?

Organize all your thoughts and ideas onto a planner or calendar. Focus on one criteria at a time. For example, spend 30 minutes doing your research and then 30 minutes on your draft. The key idea is put in the effort and get started not to worry about how far you’ll get into the task.

2. How Can I Organize My Tasks?

Has this ever happened to you where you felt like you spent too much time on a task. This is because you were dreading the task the WHOLE time. Now, stop right there and plan everything out into smaller chunks. This method is helpful because is it much more useful and effective to stay focused for a shorter period of time, because you will see progress in all tasks, You will get the easier tasks done first and tackle the others with additional time.

3. How Many Times Should I Take Breaks?

You should take a break of 5-10 minutes can be a great way to move around and boost energy. Instead of performing a task for an hour and taking a twenty minute break, take smaller breaks. You will not feel the inclination to increase break time, since you are working in small time frames.

4. This Is Slightly Tricky. Any Suggestions?

If 30 minutes is too long, try 25 minutes. Trust me you will always have enough time to finish all your tasks. This rule may be difficult to adapt, but you will be happy to know you got a portion of two subjects done in a hour. Don’t be stressed out on perfection. Keep trying, because it will come as second nature.

Now, since my secret is out there, you can be stress-free and successful. High school is only a stepping stone for college. So work smarter, not harder!!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
