A Thank You Note

To all the people I'm thankful for

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to express what I'm most thankful for. There are many things that I could put down, such as the grades I'm getting or the opportunities I'm finding. However, what I'm most thankful for is people.

I'm Thankful for the people who helped raise me. They each had an important role in shaping my personality and getting me to where I am today. I remember all the late night drives my Papa would make for school events, and how I could always count on seeing him after club trips. The discussions about life and politics I would have with my parents always made me think about what issues were important to our country. I'm thankful that they allowed me to mold my mind, despite the fact that I agree with little they have to say. I'm thankful that I can count on them to love me even when they don't agree with me. I'm also thankful for the kind words of my Grandmas, and the food that they always slayed making. So thank you, Mom, Dad, Ted, Papa, Memaw and even Gammy.

I'm Thankful for the people who have always protected me from ridicule and who pull me through some of the roughest of situations. I'm so happy that I had a sister by my side that pulled me through the majority of going to school. I'm also thankful that I had uncles that would always ask me how my life was going, or would randomly check up on me. I remember when my parents were going through a rough time and my uncle paid 600 dollars so I could start school. That was one of the moments I realized how truly amazing family can be. So thank you, Alyssa, Milo and Josh.

I'm Thankful for the people who I've made friends with, from the people I've been friends with for years to the squad I've made at college. High school was rough but thanks to four of the greatest people I've ever met I made it through (shout out to Alexia, Amber, Jill and Myah). The squad I've made in College has been such a gift to me as well. Each person has such a kind heart, and I don't think I've ever met people so open to discussion ( Shout out to Brianna, Britt, George, Jade, Jarvis, Meg, Megan, Nehu, Sam, Tammy, and Torrance). So thank you school squad and home squad for making my days brighter and happier.

However, what I'm most thankful for are the three little angels that I was somehow blessed with. They give me the courage to move on, to be better, and to lead by example. I love them dearly and would do anything for them. I can still remember the days that each one of them was born. I looked at them and I felt pure love for each one of them. So thank you, Brennan, Asher, and Skylark for being my sunshine on the cloudiest of days.

If it wasn't for everyone I mentioned I would not be who I am today. So again, thank you to everyone who has made me who I am.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
