7. Political debate time

Friends

The holidays are here and as much as we are looking forward to it, nothing is perfect. 'Friends' knows exactly what we mean.

1. Pure excitement

Giphy

You are so excited to get to see your family again. You may even do a happy dance!

2. The countdown

Giphy

You are probably sitting in your dorm or apartment packing your bags and questioning why you didnt just get the entire week off?!

3. Thanksgiving dinner (Joey style)

Giphy

You have changed from your cute outfit into some lose sweats. It is time to eat and you are ready because you know college is a vicious cycle of full meals one day and forgetting to eat the next. You have prepared for this moment all semester. And everyone better watch out because "Joey doesn't share food".

4. Boredom and college talk

Giphy

There you are, just sitting and enjoying your meal. Then out of nowhere, you hear the despicable words "How's college?" or "What are you majoring in?" and now you hate them. You are at the dinner table wondering why they would ruin your feast this way.

5.. It is time to party!

Giphy

Regrets will definitely happen on the dance floor AKA the living room, but it does not matter because you deserve it. Now go out there and shake those beads because Monica only relaxes once in a while, it's your time to shine.

6. Leftovers the next day

Giphy

You may have definitely had a little too much to drink the night before. But that's not something Thanksgiving leftovers won't cure.

7. Political debate time

Giphy

You never really know when this one will happen but its bound to come up. Someone is bound to speak politics into your break. It may not be during dinner but rest assured, no one can ever leave politics out. So you better get ready for some heat and make sure you know what you are talking about.

8. The realization that you are back home

Giphy

Suddenly you have a list of chores, a curfew and it feels like high school all over again. You just want to storm out of the house and never come back.

9. Catching up on gossip

Giphy

You haven't seen everyone in days, weeks, even months. Suddenly you have two new cousins, someone got divorced, Maria got back with her ex, your aunt moved out of town and it feels like you are walking right into the middle of a soap opera. Get ready for the shock of your life.

10. Leaving until next holiday season

Giphy

The end is finally here and your bags are packed. You are done with the drama, your bag is filled with leftovers you hid, and you are excited to be going back.

Now, once you get back to campus. Remember to rinse and repeat this list because regardless of it all, you miss them. They are your family and you still love them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
