What were you thankful for this Thanksgiving? As a very exhausted college student, I know I am thankful for the break from class, getting to see my family and let's be real, all the good food.
Thanksgiving > Ramen.
I asked on Facebook and Twitter what people were most thankful for this holiday, and the majority has it, most of us are thankful for that extra time dedicated to spending time with families and loved ones.
When I asked what people were thankful for, my favorite response has been my sister's. She and her husband have been trying to start a family for a while, and while having their own children physically may not have been possible for them, they have recently been blessed with three sweet little boys; three sweet little boys that I am thankful to have as nephews. This is their first Thanksgiving as a family and my heart is so full. I can't wait to spend many more holidays with these precious little boys!
Aside from families, there are many other things to be thankful for. Below is a short list of a few other things folks are thankful for this year:
Carlee H.: "Quizlet."
Gladys W: Her "fur babies."
Amy C.: "God's grace." (we all should be).
Stormy C.: "Time I get to go off the grid and go hunting."
Sara F.: "My cat, Diddy."
John W.: "Football, fishing and females." (Insert eye roll here, he's my little brother)
Michelle W.: "Irreplaceable memories."
Erin B.: "My friends."
Christina B.: "Family"
Justin M.: "My new job and you." (Awww, that's me! <3)
And last but not least,
Emily K.: "Coffee and 5 hour energy shots."
There are so many things for us to be thankful for every day, a lot of it gets overlooked throughout the hustle and bustle of every day life.
I thank God every day for the life he's given me, but I am guilty overlooking the little things that a lot of take for granted. For example, I know I didn't consider how thankful I was for electricity when I woke up in my warm apartment while it was 40 degrees outside, I didn't think about how thankful I was for a roommate that so that I don't have to pay the bills alone, but I am. I am very blessed for all that I have and whether I acknowledge it or not every day is one thing, but I am thankful for everything that life throws my way -- good and bad.
Out of all the things to be thankful for, just remember to be thankful all the time for those things and not just one day a year. Enjoy every minute with your family, eat that extra slice of pie and be happy!
