The journey of getting to 50 articles

Thankful for 50 articles!

I have officially reached the fifty article mark! It feels so incredibly gratifying and amazing to have gotten to this point. It seems like just yesterday that I got the email that I was accepted to write for the Odyssey. I cannot believe that it has been a year already. It has been so much fun writing about various topics every week. I think my favorite part was coming up with what to write every week and then seeing my ideas come turn into articles in the span of just a few moments. Over these fifty articles I have written about some of the most trying and happy times of my life. Some articles were so hard to write because of the emotions that came along with them. Others were easier because the words were inside my head and the article was written long before it ever appeared on my computer screen. I enjoy the challenge of writing each week because it keeps my creative juices flowing and it gives me a healthy way to share my thoughts with the world with the click of a button. Writing each article especially the ones that were hard to write helped me to grow as a person and to become more confident writing about my life and the experiences that I have had. I have never felt so inspired to write before. It gives me a sense of accomplishment to write an article and to see it published online. The views and shares of it never really mattered to me, I always just hoped that if one person was inspired by my writing, I would be so excited to know that I was the reason behind it. Watching the engagements with my articles grow even the tiniest bit makes my self confidence soar. I have become a more well rounded writer and person because of it. I have learned so much about myself and others around me. I love seeing the positive feedback from my writing and having people encourage me to keep at it. It means a lot to know that I am doing a good enough job for people to notice it. I pour my soul into each and every article that I write, I feel every emotion as a I write it. I have cried, laughed, smiled and felt so many other emotions while writing. I have seen so much of myself in my words and continue to be amazed at how far I have come since my first article. I am no longer afraid to express my thoughts and opinions to others. I have found my voice. I encourage any one out there who loves to write but may be afraid to start, to start even if it is just in a notebook, like I used to and still do to this day. It is important to have your voice heard. It can change your life!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
