Thank You, My Forever Friends

Some friends are mean to enter your life for a short period of time, others are meant to stay there forever.

Thank You, My Forever Friends
Hope Rayder

Ladies,

When I first became friends with you guys I was so cautious about my every move. I was terrified that I would say the wrong thing and you would leave. But as our friendship progressed, you showed me that will never happen. When I first became friends with you guys, I never imagined our friendship would turn into what it is today; my lifeline.

Forever friends don't tell each other what they want to hear, but instead what they need to hear. Thank you for telling me every hard truth and doing so in a way that still was sensitive to my feelings. I often think back on some of the hardest times I have faced during our friendship and each time I remember how helpful you guys were. I am incredibly blessed to have friends who tell me what I need to hear when I ignore what's right in front of me.

Forever friends adventure. We have been on countless adventures together. There was the waterfall when we crawled across a giant tree, the time we got lost for an hour when we were five minutes from campus, the time we drove the 30 minutes to the cell-phone store twice in one day, and the countless sleepovers. With you ladies, everything is an adventure. Thank you for making life fun and creating so many positive memories for us all to look back on whenever we are having a bad day.

Forever friends encourage and support. Many times now I have given up on one thing or another. But each time, you were there to keep me going. I would find notes of encouragement left in my room or receive daily messages telling me to keep trying. For that, I am eternally grateful. It is so important as women to have friends who build you up, instead of tearing you down. I have never met women more capable of doing that until I met you ladies. Thank you for being my motivation when I'm too lazy to be my own.

Forever friends inspire. We have so many plans for our futures, and each day we continue to make more. We support each others creativity, even mine which is virtually non-existent. Thank you for always inspiring me to be the very best person I can be. Whether that be by running each day, doing something for others each day, or just making big plans and believing I can achieve them.

Forever friends share everything (yes, everything). Whether it be clothes, makeup, gossip, food, or party invites, you guys are always generous. If it wasn't for you ladies I would probably never match and definitely never know what's going on. So thanks for being my personal stylists, gossip magazines, and crazy party friends (and by that I mean eating junk food in our rooms watching sad movies).

Forever friends are the friends you run to with good news, bad news, and everything in-between. They are the friends who know you better than you know yourself and who are always looking out for your best interest. Without these people, life can be pretty boring. So when you find them, keep them close. Never forget to tell them you appreciate them and their presence in your life. Here's to you, my forever friends.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
