Thank you for being my best friends.

A Thank You Letter To My Floormates

Dear Hanks Floor 2,

I never expected to build such strong, amazing friendships with the girls that I share a bathroom with. You all have made my Freshman year amazing and unforgettable. There are not enough words in the world to express how thankful I am to have met and befriended all of you.

Thank you for accepting me.

You have seen me at my best and obviously seen me at my worst and accepted both sides of me. One of the first days of school I was dancing in front of my TV and most of you saw. After a few laughs and countless jokes later, you accepted the fact that I was crazy. You comfort me when I cry uncontrollably. You join me when I laugh uncontrollably. You accept my random cravings and usually join me when I want to take a walk to Dunkin. You accept me completely and love me anyway. I will be forever grateful.

Thank you for the countless laughs.

Whether we are all in my room or talking in our group chat I can always count on you to make me laugh. When I am stressed or freaking out for no reason, you all can instantly change my mood. We have so many inside jokes and memories that we reminisce on that we will have forever. From drunk people coming back late to cuddling and making faces each other, we always have a good laugh. I am going to miss not being able to walk into another room and just burst into laughter for no reason.

Thank you for sharing.

Food: pizza bagels, pizza rolls, peanut butter sandwiches, cheese-its, the list goes on and on. We basically share each others fridges so we always have a constant flow of food. Shopping at the dhall or at price chopper, its always an adventure when searching for food with you guys.

Rooms: I think its safe to say all of us live in my room. My door is always open and there are always people in there. From cuddling to chilling, sharing my room with all of you has been a pleasure. We all share basically everything and thats what makes our floor so close.

Thank you for going out and staying in with me.

Trips to Huskies, the homeland, or random frat parties wouldn't be the same without any of you. Getting ready in my room, finding a ride, actually getting to where we want to go are all adventures within themselves. Staying in or going out, no matter what we do, we always have fun together. No one is ever left alone; someone is always there to stay in or go out.

Thank you for the memories.

I am going to miss sitting on the floor of our hallway talking for hours. I am going to miss sitting in my room doing absolutely nothing. Making grilled cheeses, watching TV shows, cuddling, making fun of each other; we have so many memories that I know I will never forget. I know we have so many memories still waiting to be made but all of the ones we already have, are ones that already made my college experience.

Thank you for an amazing year.

You have given me an amazing freshman year. No living situation will ever compare to how amazing this one was. Northwest, The Ville, Hilltop, wherever we go, as we all move around campus and go our separate ways, I know we all reconnect. The group chat will always be a thing and we will always be friends. I can't wait to visit everyone next year and continue to grow together.

Thank you UConn for randomly placing me with my best friends. I will forever be grateful. Im going to miss not being in the same hallway as all of you next year. I love all of you so much. Thank you for an unforgettable year.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
