While graduating college is not required to obtain a happy and comfortable lifestyle, it stands out as one of the greatest milestones we can achieve. Not only does graduating college grant you access countless opportunities but the amount of self-satisfaction that is experienced once you get your diploma is priceless. This is why it is crucial for potential college students to select a university that suits both their career interests as well as their personality. Luckily I experienced a university that met both of these qualities by enrolling in Kent State University. Although my journey with Kent State University lasted longer than I anticipated, I will always be grateful for everything that I have learned as a Golden Flash and will always have Kent State University to thank for teaching me now.

When I first stepped onto Kent State’s campus I was extremely shy and nervous as to how I would be perceived in such a large student body, as most freshmen are. Thanks to all the ice breaker events that Kent State held for all of its students, I was able to meet a group of friends that were from a wide range of backgrounds with a variety of different career goals. These icebreaker events also helped me discover many of the different organizations throughout the campus which help students better themselves. During my journey at Kent State University, I saw myself become tremendously less shy around unfamiliar people allowing me to better develop my communication skills.

During my journey as a Kent State Golden Flash, one of the hardest challenges that I faced was trying to figure out what I career I wanted to pursue once I figured out that my initial computer science major didn’t really fit what I wanted to do in the long run. Luckily, after meeting with some of the advising staff with the various schools that make up Kent State University, I was able to discover the VCD program which soon leads me to the Applied Communication program. As a Kent State University graduate with a degree in applied communication. I have a wider range of career possibilities than I anticipated as it opens up opportunities in the communication, Graphic design and journalism fields. The Advisors at Kent State even helped balance my schedule so that I could fit minors in both design and digital science which made all the classes I took over my long journey at Kent State University relevant to my degree. Had it not been for Kent State’s advising staff I would have had a much more difficult time discovering what degree I would pursue after figuring out computer science wasn’t for me and I certainly wouldn’t have been able to apply all my classes that I took while at Kent State University.

At the end of the day, I am forever grateful to Kent State University and all of the staff members that helped keep me motivated to do the best that I could. Despite the fact that it took me longer that I anticipated to obtain my degree, I still few Kent State University as a perfect match for what I have planned for my future. I feel as if any potential college student living in Ohio should highly consider attending Kent State University as the school gives students all the opportunities to better themselves and achieve their life goals and it’s because of this that I will always thank Kent State University for aiding me as I strive to be the best I can be.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
