Dear Doctor,
I know that you're just a figure on the television but I don't care. You're a figure that brings hope to those of us who need it the most. Thank you for bringing happiness into my world when there was none. With you traveling into time and space in your T.A.R.D.I.S, you allowed me to escape my reality. I would go days without a genuine smile and a laugh. You were, and are, the bringer of hope in my life.
Traveling to different places and times allowed me to imagine what it would be like to not be afraid to travel to different places. I felt like I couldn't leave my own little town because I thought I would fail automatically. Traveling with you in my imagination was my escape from my mini anxiety attacks.
I would just be off in my own little world because sometimes my thoughts were way too heavy. You helped me realize that it's okay to have passion and raw emotions. I was able to cry in front of the certain people that I would tell myself I would never cry in front of.
You were my friend that I could escape to when people would treat me like I didn't belong. When I was contemplating leaving my small town to explore south Florida, you were my inspiration to leave. I was so excited to have my sonic screwdriver and my tiny model of the T.A.R.D.I.S with me when I moved to Orlando.
When you chose people to travel with you in the T.A.R.D.I.S, I love how you chose people that were not well put together. They had a lot of heart and were ready to prove themselves to the world. They were wishing that they could do better in their lives but they were lost on how to do it. You gave them experiences that turned them into the heroes that anyone would look up to.
I truly loved when you picked up Rose Tyler because she and I are very similar. Neither of us knew what we wanted in life, but by going through different experiences we ended up knowing what we had to do in order to better ourselves.
Donna Noble was a temp most of her career and was stuck thinking she wasn't good enough to be anything. You showed her that she could be the “Doctor Donna." When she had to forget how special she was, I was heartbroken because she turned out to be one of your best companions.
The way you teach your companions that there's always another way to complete something is how I live my life now. That mindset has gotten me through all the hardships of life living outside a cocoon.
The fact that you figure your way through your journey with nothing by your screwdriver and your T.A.R.D.I.S is beautiful. You could have fought with anything but you continue to use your screwdriver above all else.
Thank you for teaching us that violence is not the answer. You maintain that everything has a place in the universe and is precious. That is wisdom that I wish that people would take to heart.
I haven't seen your adventures these past few seasons but I hope to be able to come with you on your adventures again. Thank you Doctor, for all of the lessons you taught me.
Love from,
Elizabeth
